Father’s play a very special and important role in their children's social, emotional and educational development. One that simply can not be filled as well by anyone else. Fathers work is about:
- Working with men as men and developing services that reflect the importance of their masculinity.
- Valueing and respecting the huge part Father’s play in the life of their families and the importance of their relationship to their children.
- Supporting Father’s in accessing services for themselves and their children.
- Enabling Father’s to play an active part in planning and developing activities both for themselves and that they can do jointly with their children.
- To give Father’s a voice.
Why is it important?
Fathers work is important because:
- It gives Father’s some fun, quality time to play and take part in activities with their children.
- Fathers through their involvement offer children a positive role model.
- Children feel safe and have more confidence to try new activities and meet new people if Dad is there to look after them.
- Father’s are able to experience some of the positive aspects of parenting through building healthy supportive relationships with their children.
- It can offer a time when Mum’s get a break.
- It gives Dads a time to meet socially sharing experiences and supporting each other.
What can we offer?
- Father’s Support Groups: A chance to share ideas and experience with other fathers and project workers.
- Father & Child Activity Clubs: Lots of fun things to with the kids. From little one to big one all are welcome.
- Teen Dads Group: A Social /Activities Group that also gives you the chance to meet with other teenaged dads and get some support/advice.
