
What is the aim of Families Inc?
Families Inc. is a self-help group for families living in Copeland. The group aims to promote healthy relationships between parents/carers and children by providing them with a variety of different experiences in a caring, safe environment.
How does the group work?
Families Inc. offers families the opportunity to take part in various activities.
We meet on a weekly basis for children accompanied by their parents/carers, or fortnightly for the parent/ carer sessions.
How can families access the group?
Families wishing to join the group can either contact the organisers themselves, or ask a worker they know to make a referral on their behalf. This could be a health visitor, midwife, GP, playgroup worker, social worker etc.
Who is the group for?
The group is for families living in the Copeland area that are currently experiencing or have recently experienced difficulties or change within their families. It is also for anyone wishing to have quality time with their children.
What do we offer?
We offer arts and crafts on a weekly basis for parents/ carers with children aged 5 to 13 years old. We also offer outdoor/indoor activities (such as bowling, canoeing etc) on a weekly basis for parents/carers with children aged 8 to 15 years old. Group leaders are professionals in their field.
When and where are the groups held?
The groups are based in either one of the Howgill Centres, Cleator Moor or Whitehaven..
These groups are supported by the Children’s Fund.
