What is Family Support?
Family Support is a scheme where trained volunteers provide emotional support and practical help to families, in their own homes, who are experiencing difficulties.
What sort of problems can be helped?
Family Support can help families overcome a wide range of problems.
These difficulties could be due to illness or the sudden absence of a partner.
Whilst other parents may be finding it difficult to cope with several young children. Alternatively, a parent may be experiencing loneliness, isolation or financial difficulties. Inexperienced parents may need practical help and reassurance. Whilst other parents may just need someone to talk to.
How long will the volunteer visit?
The volunteer will continue to visit until your family has come through its difficult patch.
When everyone agrees, the volunteer will then move on to help another family.
What will it cost?
The service is available free of charge to all families.
