Howgill Image Infant Massage

Learn how to massage your babyInfant Massage
A wonderful way to keep in touch with your baby
What is Infant Massage?
Infant massage is an ancient tradition in many cultures, which is being rediscovered in the west.
Clinical evidence shows that loving, nurturing contact between caregiver and infant plays a vital part in their development.
Infant massage is a wonderful skill to learn - providing benefits to both baby and parent/caregiver.
Certified Infant Massage Instructors
Certified Infant Massage Instructors (CIMIs) are parent educators who have completed intensive training in theoretical and practical work.
They are committed to helping you learn interactive communication with your baby through positive, loving touch.
Within Sure Start Whitehaven, we offer 5 week courses in local venues. We can also provide individual tuition at home if requested.
Infant massage can:

  • Improve communication between parent and baby
  • Help calm babies' emotions and relieve stress
  • Soothe babies and help them sleep better
  • Help babies develop an awareness of their body
  • Enhance parents' abilities to understand babies' needs
  • Regulate breathing and relieve nasal congestion
  • Aid digestion and help relieve colic, wind and constipation
  • Help develop muscle tone, coordination and suppleness
  • Improve skin texture
