Sure Start Children’s Centre

Is situated in Catherine Street opposite the Council Buildings. This is the Early Years Foundation Stage Unit. We take children from their 2nd birthday until the time they start school. We provide the Nursery Education Grant for three and four  year olds from the term after their 3rd birthday.
We work to the DFES Early Years Foundations Stage which covers children from 0 to 5. Your child can access their 5 Nursery Education Grant sessions either over 5 mornings or afternoons or over 2 and a half days.  We also offer wrap around care so your child can stay all day if you wish. Our ratios are 1 adult to 4  children for 2 year olds and 1 adult to 8 children for 3 and 4 year olds, although we often have more adults available. We can in some cases offer 1:1 support for children with additional needs.
