Small group work with 3 + 4 year olds in nursery settings.
The aims are to:
- Explicitly teach children to be able to sit and listen
- Develop attention span
- Enable children to become confident speakers
- Promote turn talking in a structured setting
The group numbers are kept to a maximum of 5 or 6 children, and the length of each session is between 10+20 minutes.
The groups are of mixed ability so that the more able children can be a role model for the others.
The variety of listening and speaking activities are designed to promote and enrich language and can be easily adopted so that all children can participate.
