Family Support Befriending Service
A free confidential service, offering befriending support, and practical help to families with young children in West Cumbria.
Family Support is one of the many services and resources provided by Howgill Family Centre, it is a scheme where trained volunteers provide emotional support and practical help to families, in their own homes, who are experiencing difficulties.
Volunteers come from all walks of life and no specific educational qualifications are required. The Family Support project aims to recruit people with potential as well as those with relevant experience and qualifications. Usually Family Support Volunteers are either parents themselves or have aspirations to form a career working with Children and Families.
Volunteers can be found in many areas other than family support these could be areas of Admin, Carer & Toddler, Arts & Crafts, Drivers, Charity Shop, Trustees and many more, so if you feel you have what it takes or would like to discuss volunteering further please contact us.
We offer a wide range of training that is family orientated, at no cost to the volunteer.
All out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
