Who We Are
Howgill Family Centre are a registered Charity who have been operating in the Communities of Whitehaven and the surrounding areas of Copeland for 35 years.
We currently employ over 70 staff and 40 volunteers delivering services in the North Copeland area. Our headquarters and administrative centre are located, as our name would suggest, in Howgill Street in the heart of Georgian Whitehaven – our building has a fascinating history and dates from 1736.
What We Do
Howgill Family Centre started with a group of parents who got together to provide pre-school activities for children up to age five in a building on Howgill Street.
This remains a key element of what the organisation does today, all be it on a very much larger scale.
We provide education, skills, health, and social care services for children 0-19 and their families across Copeland and West Cumbria. From practical support to therapeutic intervention, Howgill is here to help.
Where we work
As the Local Authority contracted provider in the North Copeland area, we have bases in a number of Children’s Centres. For details and directions please follow this link SureStart Children’s Centres
